Informist, Friday, Jun 7, 2024

MUMBAI – The Reserve Bank of India will conduct its third 'HaRBInger 2024' hackathon on the themes of "Zero Financial Frauds" and "Being Divyang Friendly", the central bank said in a release today. Participants can register and submit their proposals online between today and Jul 19.

"The Hackathon invites participants to develop solutions using technology and innovative approaches under the following themes and problem statements," the RBI said.

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das had announced the hackathon while stating the outcome of the Monetary Policy Committee's three-day meeting earlier today. The RBI has conducted two hackathons over the last two years.

For "Zero Financial Frauds", problem statements included ensuring anonymity and maintaining financial system integrity in central bank digital currency transactions. Other problem statements include using alternate data sources to predict, detect and prevent fraud in real time. Finally, participants can also fix identifying mule bank accounts and payment wallets.

The fourth problem state, under the theme "Being Divyang Friendly", had the problem statement accurately identifying banknotes by the visually impaired. The winners across each segments will get a top prize of 4 mln rupees. End
